Daniele Rizzo is at it again. The German film geek has built a name for himself by turning up at press junkets decked out in hand made costumes to conduct bizarre interviews, on one notable occasion turning up to interview the cast of Captain America decked out as Captain Italy. Well, with the whole Avengers team passing through it was time for the good Captain to make a repeat appearance but clearly this time he needed a bit of an upgrade. Check the video below as Tom Hiddleston, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Clark Gregg and Cobie Smulders try to figure out what the hell is happening.
I don’t know what it is about this video, which is not exactly gut-bustingly hilarious, but which I adore. Maybe it’s because Rizzo is delightfully weird. Maybe it’s because all the stars seem to be enjoying themselves immensely. Maybe it’s because I’m baffled as to why the studios allow this dude to show up and sit down with most of the movie’s stars for a considerable amount of time only to talk nonsense. Honestly, I have no idea why they let him in, but I’m very glad they did.
Robert Bricken is one of the original co-founders of the site formerly known as Topless Robot, and its first editor-in-chief, serving from 2008-12. He brought the site to prominence with “nerd news, humor and self-loathing” as its motto, raising it from total internet obscurity to a readership in the millions, with help from his savage “FAQ” movie reviews and Fan Fiction Fridays. Under his tenure Topless Robot was covered by Gawker, Wired, Defamer, New York magazine, ABC News, and others, and his articles have been praised by Roger Ebert, Avengers actor Clark Gregg, comedian and The Daily Show correspondent John Hodgman, the stars of Mystery Science Theater 3000 and Rifftrax, and others. He is currently the managing editor of io9.com. Despite decades as both an amateur and professional nerd, he continues to be completely unprepared for either the zombie apocalypse or the robot uprising.
