Okay, okay, OKAY. Brace your fucking selves people. I have a rumor, and I want it to circulate quickly and I want people to get so unreasonably excited they poo their pants or marry a person or insert a red garden hose dial into the back of a bald dude's head.

John Lowrie, who can be seen here playing a banjo, has just tweeted something very awesome about his wife, Ellen McLaine, who can also be seen in that video. He said  on his Twitter account, and I quote, "Ellen is going in Tuesday for a new game and more Portal work." Oh, boy. My favorite game of the year might be getting DLC, or maybe even more.

Your PS3 may be headed to Limbo
A few days, James Hawkins wrote an excellent piece about one of last year's best games, Limbo. You should really read it. I'll wait.

Anyway, that piece sparked a discussion about when and if the game might make the leap to the PlayStation 3. Our response: buy an Xbox 360.

And now, it looks like Limbo may be headed to the PS3 after all. We're assuming this leak was timed specifically to make us look bad.

PS Vita To Hit Store Shelves November 4?

There's a rumor circulating about a release date for the strangely named Sony handheld, the PS Vita. According to a retailer in the United Kingdom, both versions (WiFi and 3G) are going to ship on November 4, 2011. Which is right in line with Sony's projected release date, as vague as it may be.

On their website, has a pre-order page for both of the handheld models, complete with ship dates, promo codes, and product information. But here's the kicker -- it has been twenty-four hours since the first sighting has hit and the page is still up and functional. Usually, when rumors abound, these sorts of pages are quickly withdrawn and all parties issue some shady apology statement. But they haven't. Something is definitely fishy here.

While many have been speculating it for many, many months, sources close to Take-Two have announced that Grand Theft Auto V is "well under way," and that its release in 2012 is "pretty likely." To give credit where credit is due, the story broke via GameSpot yesterday, and the web has been a-buzz ever since.

There have been domain registrations and casting calls for a while now, which always point us in the right direction, but having some sources come out and spring a few leaks is huge news. Especially considering what the game might entail. Hit the link for a bit more on what the world is beginning to understand about Grand Theft Auto V.

Devil May Cry3 2.jpg
HD remakes are the hot thing at this time in the seventh generation's tenure. We've seen many, many major franchises rebooted and re-released to the accommodating arms of the video game community, with still more on their way.

So, when Spanish retailer listed a mock-up of a Devil May Cry HD collection, the internet world began a-buzzin'. Could we see Dante & Co. tearing up our consoles, prettier and more chiseled than ever before? Well, it is a definite possibility, yes. But hold your horses for a minute, would ya?

Mass Effect 3 To Feature Cooperative Multiplayer?

Friday, June 17, 2011 at 6:00 pm
The world of RPGs has been notoriously sluggish when it comes to crafting deep multiplayer experiences for the gamers that play them. For many players, the games represent personal journeys where they can create an icon on which they can project themselves and partake in a typically epic story. But the world of multiplayer is poorly represented. And BioWare wants to change that.

Though they continuously deny it, sources claim the Mass Effect developers are developing some cooperative play for Mass Effect 3. CVG and Eurogamer have strong stories -- of course featuring BioWare's vehement denials -- but the swirl of rumors indicates that Mass Effect 3 will have cooperative gameplay. I can flippin' feel it.

Xbox Successor, Timesplitters 4 To Be Announced At E3 2012?

Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at 1:00 pm
With Nintendo's fashionably late Wii U coming to the HD generation of consoles, its only natural to believe that the other competitors are going to unveil their future creations on a grand stage. For Microsoft, it will probably be at Electronic Entertainment Expo 2012. That's according to a high-up industry pro at Crytek, which is according to an interview in UK online video game

Crytek is working on Timesplitters 4 on the CryEngine 3--a next-gen engine designed to work with Microsoft's DirectX 11. It is likely that Microsoft will try and get development and release going as quickly as possible--they destroyed PlayStation 3's success with the Xbox 360 by releasing it earlier, and for cheaper, than its competitor. That trend will likely continue into the eighth-gen consoles.

Rumor: 3DS Bundle Coming This Fall With Ubisoft Games

Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 4:00 pm
Planning on picking up a Nintendo 3DS? You may want to wait until October 1, when a bundle with Ubisoft games Splinter Cell 3D and Driver: Renegade 3D will supposedly be released.

According to games industry news site MCV, which credits a "leaked release schedule from a leading distributor", the bundle will include both games, along with either the aqua blue or cosmic black 3DS. MCV has no word on pricing.

MCV is a European site, so if this bundle does exist it might not be available in North America. Joystick Division has reached out to both Ubisoft and Nintendo for a response, and we'll let you know if we hear anything.

LA Noire Will Be Rockstar's Next Big Franchise

Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 5:00 pm
Thumbnail image for lanoirepostertsmgo2 (250 x 183).jpg
Rockstar and Take-Two have it pretty fucking good. The Grand Theft Auto series pulls in about as much money as a game can, and the Red Dead franchise is arguably the hottest to come from the last few years -- albeit, the success of Red Dead Redemption is the only indicative factor. But their open-world exploration sims are about to gain a brother. LA Noire, in Rockstar's mind, is going to spawn a bunch of sequels.

Now, no follow-ups or sequels have been announced. Rockstar simply views the game as one that will spark a new franchise in the Rockstar cannon. And while this is an incredibly premature statement, it is always good to hear that the best publishers and the best developers believe that they can provide us with some great entertainment over the next few years. Hit the link for a bit more.
