But there is one key difference. Waterworld was host to Kevin Costner (read: supreme suckage), while Shemnue was this vibrant, crazy world that some believe to be a pivotal chapter-turn in our game development. Quicktime events folks. Goofy NPCs. A living world.
Shenmue pioneered that. And according to Sega, it is one of their most requested re-releases, and they "may or may not" be working on it. Also...
Skies of Arcadia.
So consider my pants pooped.

But I don't expect they'll push forward with the story as it left in Gears of War 3 -- because, well, SPOILER ALERT, they tied it all together rather nicely. Well, they hashed together three 6-hour segments into a relatively cohesive narrative and ended it on a nice sentimental note that everyone can feel good about. I, personally, loved it. I bought into the over-the-top story and straight up GoW-mold storytelling and gameplay. Gears of War 3 is the best major game of the last half of 2011 for me. And no, I haven't played Zelda or Skyrim yet.
Anyway, besides all that, there have been some stirrings concerning the next game. Gears of War IV, we'll call it for now. According to Official Xbox Magazine, via CVG, it looks like we're going to be exploring pre-Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago story. Click on for more.

Apparently, as the title of this blog states, everyone's favorite PSN downloadable title, Joe Danger, might just be dropping into the Microsoft console's downloadable portfolio. Which would be great, but up until now, it is just a bit of (sorta credible) hearsay. Hit yon link and I'll let you know what's up.

Wait, did I say Ezio OR Altair could be in Soul Calibur V. Well, first off, it's a rumor. There has been no confirmation from Namco Bandai. Still, there's a provocative little picture after the jump that will determine which one of the two characters could potentially show up in the upcoming weapon-based fighter.
Check it out if you want to, or simply be surprised. We'll love you either way.

PS3Trophies posted the trophy list for Batman: Arkham City, and two special prizes are reserved for those who earn several medals in "Nightwing Bundle Packs." At the time of this writing, Warner Brothers and Rocksteady have not confirmed the character's presence in the game. But this list certainly makes us wonder if he'll be a DLC character.
There have been rumors that a fourth playable character will be in the upcoming game--due October 18. Could Nightwing be this character?

But the Wii U will open up a lot of the 7th Generation to owners of the Nintendo Wii. Big names are already hopping on its potential, citing that its power and unique tablet-like controller pose opportunities for development. Even Bethesda, who has notoriously skirted Nintendo consoles for their lack of power, is considering a port come mid-next year, when the device drops.

If this turns out to be true, you've got to at least feel a little bit sorry for all the other indie publishers out there. Not because of the competition Rovio could pose so much as the way these folks do business. Try to muscle in on their turf and, boom, your office building gets turned into a pile of rubble courtesy of disgruntled avian projectiles.

The reports indicate that the partnership that your Xbox 360 could potentially function as a cable box, bringing you cable television without another piece of equipment.

ARE YOU SHITTING ME? Swery65, AKA Hidetaka Suehiro, has announced his plans to bring fan + James Hawkins fave Deadly Premonition from pseudo-obscure budget standalone to full-fledged franchise. Which would be a really, really wonderful victory for the team that received an initial 2/10 from IGN (which instantly told me something about that mega-site). And an even bigger triumph for the fans that have been promoting, praising, and feeling the game so passionately since it released.

The internet grapevine has shown that Amazon France is showing Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 for the upcoming PlayStation Vita. While the listing (shown after the jump) discusses the game, it's unknown if the title is a placeholder until Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 is announced for the system.
Still, it's pretty cool to hear that there's a possibility that the cross-over fighting game will be available on the impressive new handheld console.
