ZZzzzzzot!
You can't judge a book by its cover. Usually that phrase is used to describe something you would have enjoyed had you not passed it up due to a lackluster presentation. Unfortunately, if my time with Other Ocean's upcoming XBLA/PSN take on the H.G. Wells classic, The War of the Worlds, is indicative of the final product, the inverse of that meaning can also be accurate.

I had the opportunity to watch two levels being played of The War of the Worlds downloadable game during E3 and, despite its captivating appearance, the gameplay looks anything but.

It's gonna get real
I'm something of a Mixed Martial Arts fan, so when THQ offered me the chance to speak with former UFC light heavyweight champ Chuck Liddell during last week's E3 event, I jumped at the chance.

The developer took a bit of extra time between it's previous MMA title, UFC Undisputed 2010, and the upcoming Undisputed 2012, set to release in January of next year. According to a closed-door showing of the title at E3, the goal was to turn the newest MMA fighter into, well, a better fighting game.

Find out about some of the expected changes, as well as Liddell's thoughts on the upcoming game and the future of the sport, after the jump.

Just keep shooting
If you picked up Battle: Los Angeles on Blu-ray yesterday, chances are you've already sunk your teeth into the Resistance 3 demo available on the disc.

I had the opportunity to get in some time with another R3 demo during last week's E3 event, so here's an idea of what you can expect from Insomniac's latest FPS.

Little Deviants rolls onto the scene
Until E3, the only thing I knew about the PlayStation Vita title Little Deviants was that it was a game wherein you utilized the back touch pad to guide a ball toward its goal.

Color me surprised, then, when I found out that LD actually features more than 30 minigames, with the aforementioned ball-rolling only being one of them.

I got the chance to play three of these games during my Sony booth visit at E3. Find out why I'm so excited for this Vita launch title just after the break.

Starhawk Soars at E3 - Hands-on

Here comes the backup
After some 8-on-8 multiplayer action at this year's E3, I have a feeling Lightbox's 2012 release, Starhawk, is going to scratch an itch console fans have had ever since the release of its 2007 spiritual successor, Warhawk.

While I'm a bit skeptical about how some of the changes will play out once the game actually launches, my 10 minutes of hands-on time left me hopeful. While Lightbox is hesitant to refer to the game as a sequel to Warhawk, there's no mistaking that Starhawk has the original's blood coursing through its neon blue veins.

Big racing on a small scale
At the risk of sounding like a broken record when it comes to describing PlayStation Vita versions of titles that got their start on home consoles, ModNation Racers for the PSV looks, controls, sounds and feels exactly like its PS3 big brother for the most part.

I had the opportunity to explore the track creation mode and take on a full race during my E3 visit and, while some of the editing tools may not be as precise as the console version, the racing is spot on.

Drake uncovers new mysteries on the PSV
If any line on the E3 show floor came close to competing with Nintendo's Wii U console, it was the three-hour behemoth you had to sit through in order to get your hands on PlayStation's new handheld, the Vita.

Thankfully, my appointment with the folks at Sony meant I got to bypass all of that nonsense. I was walked straight up to a podium sporting the shiny new console with a copy of Uncharted: Golden Abyss ready for me to tackle.

Find out why Drake's portable adventure looks to showcase the Vita's potential after the break.

He's veddy veddy sthneaky
"Who the hell are you and where is Sucker Punch?" With these words, Sanzaru Games President Glen Egan kicked off the behind-closed-doors screening of a demo for Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time during the E3 2011 event.

According to Egan, the members of Sanzaru Games are big fans of the Sly Cooper series, as evidenced by their work on last year's Sly Collection for the PS3. It turns out that project was actually a test run for the Sanzaru crew, and one they passed with flying colors.

The reward? They're developing the newest title, set to release in 2012.

PixelJunk Gets lifelike at E3

Make music
When Q-Games founder Dylan Cuthbert informed the small audience gathered in an upstairs room of the L.A. Convention Center West Hall that PixelJunk lifelike wasn't "really a game," he wasn't kidding.

Cuthbert said there would be little "gameplay" on display and, after handing the PlayStation Move controller off to world-famous Japanese DJ Baiyon for a 30 minute lifelike demonstration, we quickly learned this to be true.

More of an experiment in sound, lifelike is more like a do-it-yourself music workbench. Find out more about this bizarre title after the jump.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Shows off Dragon Murder at E3

It's gonna be big
Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is one of those titles that makes it hard to maintain a sense of objectivity. I'm supposed to watch, listen, maybe ask some questions, then calmly tell others what I thought and what they can expect from the title's Nov. 11 release.

After sitting through half an hour of live gameplay during the 2011 E3 event, however, I found it hard not to leave the room wide-eyed and grinning like a fool. This game is going to be something special, and I for one can't wait to get my hands on it.
