Today we've got two game franchise mash-ups. That wasn't planned, we just found two dorky crossovers that we had to share with you good folks. This one comes from YouTuber Armago24X, and it is exactly what the headline says: a Team Fortress tribute to Skyrim

You know what to do: check it out below.

The Greatest BioShock Cosplay Ever

Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 8:30 am
It's Rapture!
It's not so much the costumes that make this BioShock/BioShock 2 cosplay so great (although they're all pretty great). It's the setting. Irrational Games' staffers brought a photographer to Dragon*Con's "Night at the Georgia Aquarium," and the combination of costume and setting was magical. Check out more after the break.More >>

You may have a big-screen TV to play your games on, but French art collective WECOMEINPEACE has the side of a whole freakin' building.

Check it out below. The group used a Kinect hack to create a giant game of Breakout that's played on the side of a building and actually interacts with the architectural features of the wall.

Real Life Pip-Boy Is A Thing Of Beauty

Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at 2:00 pm

We've seen some cool game-inspired pieces of fan art, but this is the coolest to come down the pipe in some time. YouTuber MyMagicPudding has created a (mostly) functional version of the Pip-Boy 3000 wrist computer seen in the Fallout games. Using an HTC Desire HD, he's added a functional screen straight out of the games to a custom-molded wrist housing. Unfortunately, the casing is too full to actually fit on his wrist, but we'll let that little detail slide.

Check it out in action below.

You know all the Portal jokes by now. Make your own here.
More Portal fan art? Yes, really. Hey, we'll stop posting it when you guys stop making such badass homages, mkay?

Filmmaker Dan Trachtenberg is the latest to create a brilliant piece based on the game. Called "Portal: No Escape," it's an amazing little fan film that we've got for you below.

We highly, highly suggest you watch it. Like, right now.

Meet Maria Mario
We feel a few fanfics coming on!

We love seeing artists' interesting takes on famous video game characters and, well, when you swap the genders of some of the best known characters in gaming history, that certainly qualifies as an "interesting" take.

Check out some more of artist Beth T.'s work after the jump.

Get funky, Sonic!
Ever wonder what video game characters do while you're sleeping?

YouTuber Slamacow did, and he put together this delightful video with his theory.

I don't really need to say more, other than that you should watch it right now. Go on, we'll wait right here.

Wheatley Is A Puppet

Portal 2
's Wheatley, that doofy, mechanical British globule, has been made into a puppet. Someone made that blithering, hilarious sphere into a hand puppet as a sort of cosplay, it seems. And it is impossibly good, I'm pretty astounded.

It was a long and thorough process to build this little guy, and something that I cannot really fathom as a ne'er-do-well layman. But I can look at it in awe and admiration and share with you all my findings. You'll be pleased, especially if you're a fan of Portal 2. And if you're not... well you haven't played it and so this is just a really cool British puppet. Onward!

Super Mario, Norman Rockwell Style

Thursday, August 11, 2011 at 8:00 am

Norman Rockwell captured scenes of everyday America like few other artists. If he were around today, would he be painting kids playing video games, as in the piece above? Probably.

Our friends over at LA Weekly have compiled a few other Rockwell-esque modern paintings in this post right here. The piece above is the most overtly video game-related, but there's some other fun stuff over there you might want to check out. Enjoy!

Watch Portal 2's Music Video Contest Winner

Valve is still rockin' and rollin', being awesome to their fans and engaging all of us in a very unique way. They've selected a fan-made music video winner from a slosh of about 350 entrants. Most other developers don't really do this kind of shit. It is just another awesomeness feather in their felt hat of cool.

The music video features a sock puppet and The National's Portal 2 song "Exile, Vilify." It has come to some mixed response on the ol' YouTube, but I can say this -- director C.F. Meister is a hell of a lot more talented than I am.
