E3 is in full swing. For the most part, there is a surprise here and there, but we aren't seeing anything so mind-liquefying or culture shocking as we always expect during this season. This HD generation has creaky old bones. Opulence has already been witnessed in years past. Seventh generation born franchises are getting deep into their third and fourth iteration.
But we've seen a few videos for games that offer up some real potential excitement. I'm going to list them for you as games to keep an eye on. Or, if not, at least something to feast your eyes on for the time being.
The Last of Us Demo
Brutal violence. Realistic visuals, sounds, and physics. Survival in unknown circumstances. Naughty Dog is bringing the kitchen sink here, showcasing a truly exhilarating moment from the game.
Beyond: Two Souls
Things are happening! In a very polished fashion! Also, Quantic Dream is all over crisp, clean voice acting and thriving environments.
Final Fantasy on Next Gen
Final Fantasy have taken a pretty sharp nose dive of late in terms of core growth and expansion, but hot damn to those games look clean and tight. Here's a game being built for next-gen consoles.
Star Wars 1313
Um, okay -- Star Wars media is supposed to be tilting toward a nose dive, right? I mean, I can't think of a really spectacular iteration anytime recently. Until this. Grit. Real. Good work.
Resident Evil 6
Shut up. I love this franchise. This gameplay footage is busy and action-filled, but the presentation is so sweeping, the display so filmic, I can't help but feel optimistic.
