Hey there. January 2012. Yup, it's a new year, a new month,
and a new set of games that scheduled to be released this month. 2011 was full
of awesome games and I can only hope that 2012 will follow suit and produce some
more reat games. January's lineup is not too shabby. An old favorite is brought back and and well-known series are releasing new chapters. Let's take a look:
NFL Blitz - Jan. 4th
NFL BLITZ!!! The flaming football players are back! With the
success of the NBA Jam reboot, NFL Blitz has now available for download on XBLA
and PSN. Power ups and 1st and 30 are the norm in this intense
filled NFL game. Do not expect to use your high football intellect on this
one. This is NOT Madden. Every play will
probably be a pass play or you WILL get sacked! It was always fun to chuck it
down field and in this game, if you ave an indecisive QB, you will get sacked!
We'll looking at you, Tebow!
Neverdead - Jan 31st
This newcomer is interesting. Bryce is confronted by the
demon king, Astaroth, and has his life shattered. His wife is murdered and he
is forced to "live" forever. A different take on immortality, that's for sure. Bryce
doesn't give a damn about life and finds solace in his job, a demon slayer. Because
the dude is "immortal," you can detach your limbs and use them to scout an area
or demolish things. It's pretty odd, but definitely up my alley. This third-person
shooter has some promise. We'll see how well it gets out of the gate.
Soulcalibur V - Jan 31st
The battle for the Soul Swords continue! This action pack
fighting game has stunning visuals and a wide range of characters to choose
from. Each with their own unique weapon and skill sets. A great addition to
this game is the appearance of Ezio, of Assassin's Creed fame. In Assassins
Invasion mode, Ezio faces off against the cast of Soulcalibur for supremacy. Even If you haven't picked up any of the Soulcalibur games before, you definitely should think about picking this one up.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 - Jan 31st
The story of Serah, Lightning, and Cocoon continue with the
latest Final Fantasy installment. This one promises a more diverse path and
battle system like no other. While FXIII had some shortfalls, FFXIII-2 plans on
rectifying them and enhancing the game play experience. You will play as Serah,
Lightning's sister, as she ventures through time and space to search for Lightning and save the world. If you haven't
seen the game trailer, no worries. I got it for you right here. I personally
can't wait until my reserved copy is in my hands.
So what game are you looking forward to snatching up this
month? Later!

I am so on the fence about Neverdead. Great concept, and it looks rather "cool", but I can't tell if that is "real" cool, or that weird, tacked on, we white guys who produce games think it's "cool" type of cool.
