We love Limbo. A lot. So much, that whenever we meet up with Mr. James Hawkins, he'll bring up his review without fail. It's one of those things we love (not really) about him.
Anyway, until now, the game was exclusively on Xbox 360 because of the standard "Summer of Arcade" exclusivity deal. Well that deal recently ended, and the game is now on PlayStation Network for Sony devotees to play. And the indie gem from last year is most definitely worth playing.
Once you've played through Limbo*, you should also check out the soundtrack. The ambient tunes are now on iTunes for $4.99, and it's great music to forget about things to. Limbo's music essentially does what Enya did ten years ago.
Note: we wanted to add a trailer here to show what the game is like, but Mega64 did a better job than anything else on Youtube.
Limbo's available on PSN for $14.99. It's still available on XBLA for 1200 Microsoft points, but you already knew that.
*And you should play Limbo. Playing guarantees that James will give you a hug the next time he sees you.
1. That was a good-ass review.2. I do sometimes get drunk at Los Angeles California Pizza Kitchens at like 9:45 at night on a Tuesday and shout about how awesome I am to my colleagues and make large scenes that attract the attentions of patrons just trying to enjoy some fettuccine. Limbo is often a central topic in these rants.3. I'll hug any JD reader that can claim they've played it at any time, day or night.
SQUEEEE! XD Perfect timing... I'm just about to platinum Fallout New Vegas which leaves me with a slot between now and Catherine. Limbo will fill my slot. Oh baby...
I started playing this last night and it's very good, but with my current emotional state, I cannot continue to play the game until I am happier. There is so much dark and traumatic death, and much like the movie The Strangers, it's even more impactful because at the moment there is just no reason for it.
