This University of Illinois graduate student has designed an "unofficial" Star Wars game that's pretty much one of the coolest things I have ever seen.
Find out all the extra details and see a video of Nishimoto's touchscreen, multiplayer strategy game in action. Did we mention he's got it running on a 20-foot screen?
Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Fleet Commander. Nishimoto originally built the game to be used on the 52-inch TacTile touchsceen, but eventually upgraded the software to play on the school's LCD wall, Cyper-Commons.

Why is everyone so hung up about the game? Angry Birds on an iPhone is just Crush the Castle on a small touch screen, and that's insanely popular for some reason.
Simulating a space battle on that interface that is the cool bit, not the game itself.Invokes images of Enders Game, as well as any number of movies where they track battles on gigantic plexi-glass screens / radar scanners, and that kind of immersion can really make a game
anyone else feel that the easiest way to win this game is to just punch your opponent in the face, then laugh at them while they cry on the ground?
How do you know untill you played the game. I first thought of Homeworld as a stereotypical RTS but I was pleasantly surprised about its mechanics. The basics what you see of this game may seem similar but the underlying elements may be completely different. Not even to mention the big ass touch screen & multiple players on 1 team...
Not to mention the sound effects and voiceovers. I'm thinking his "game" is just an interface modification for EaW.

Not just some touch screens an entire wall of touch screens - making it a very tough strategic rts game. Think of starcraft 2 times a million.
