Bioware's Director of Marketing, David Silverman, to produce a Mass Effect 3
trailer featuring Commander Shepard as a woman. Silverman asked
the Twitter community whether they wanted a "FemShep" trailer, and received a passionate response in return.
Bioware revealed six potential FemShep designs at the San Diego Comic Con last week and posted them to Facebook
, where fans can "like" their favorite rendition, which is then meant to become the "official" depiction of female Commander Shepard. Not everyone is pleased by this. Most of the negative comments hail from Twitter or Tumblr, but this GayGamer.Net post
represents their collective jist.
The essence of the complaints is that Bioware has turned what could have been a statement about gender equality and strong female characters into a beauty pageant.
