With Nintendo's fashionably late Wii U coming to the HD generation of consoles, its only natural to believe that the other competitors are going to unveil their future creations on a grand stage. For Microsoft, it will probably be at Electronic Entertainment Expo 2012. That's according to a high-up industry pro at Crytek, which is according to an interview in UK online video game

Crytek is working on Timesplitters 4 on the CryEngine 3--a next-gen engine designed to work with Microsoft's DirectX 11. It is likely that Microsoft will try and get development and release going as quickly as possible--they destroyed PlayStation 3's success with the Xbox 360 by releasing it earlier, and for cheaper, than its competitor. That trend will likely continue into the eighth-gen consoles.

The game, which has been looooooong awaited, will be a multilayered, sandbox-style first-person shooter, unlike its previous iterations. We've been waiting since Free Radical announced the game in 2007. Free Radical, now called (wouldn't you know it) Crytek, will be working on it across all platforms, including the PlayStation 4 and, we're assuming, the Wii U.

We'll keep you posted on this as it comes up, but expect many more cryptic messages before next year's E3 show.
