All you need is a solid connection
The Walmart Gamecenter just got a hell of a lot more useful thanks to a recent partnership with streaming service GaiKai.

The site, found here, originally let customers pre-order titles, take advantage of exclusive offers and watch trailers. Now, no matter what your computer has running under the hood, so long as you have a decent internet connection you can start streaming playable portions of games.

According to GaiKai, if your internet connection isn't strong enough, you won't be able to access the new "Play it Now" option for titles. I was able to check out HAWX 2 and Plants vs. Zombies, but titles like Dead Space 2 should be a part of the lineup once all the kinks are worked out (Or I'm on a computer that doesn't have a crap connection.)

The nice thing about this setup is that, since everything is streaming from GaiKai, you don't have to worry about how old your computer is. You also don't have to worry about patches, downloads, etc. Just click it and play it as if you've got the nicest PC on the market.

We assume this is only the beginning for the service as console online stores and streaming services like OnLive continue to build momentum. Could Walmart be the next big player in streaming games?
