Rockstar and Take-Two have it pretty fucking good. The Grand Theft Auto series pulls in about as much money as a game can, and the Red Dead franchise is arguably the hottest to come from the last few years -- albeit, the success of Red Dead Redemption is the only indicative factor. But their open-world exploration sims are about to gain a brother. LA Noire, in Rockstar's mind, is going to spawn a bunch of sequels.

Now, no follow-ups or sequels have been announced. Rockstar simply views the game as one that will spark a new franchise in the Rockstar cannon. And while this is an incredibly premature statement, it is always good to hear that the best publishers and the best developers believe that they can provide us with some great entertainment over the next few years. Hit the link for a bit more.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has gone on record, saying that, "We have every reason to believe that LA Noire is another strong franchise for this company...we do see it as another powerful franchise." His statements all but confirm Take-Two's vested interest in expanding their large catalogue of great games to accommodate another series.

Wahoo. Now, let's just hope that the next LA Noire doesn't take nearly a decade to complete. Like this first one has.
