While not as well-known as their male counterparts, several women have found great success in the sport of Mixed Martial Arts.

To celebrate these badass lady pugilists, Supremacy MMA will showcase the first women combatants to ever appear in an MMA game in the form of Felice "Lil Bulldog" Herrig and Michele "Diablita" Gutierrez.

Publisher 505 Games and developer Kung Fu Factory yesterday announced Herrig and Gutierrez would be joining the roster of their upcoming title, Supremacy MMA, set to release in June for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

"Female fighters are not represented in MMA games and face a giant glass ceiling in the fighting world," said Kung Fu Factory CEO and Creative Director Ricci Rukavina. "We're proud to be a part of raising their profile and giving these tough-as-nails fighters their due in the virtual cage."

Herring is an XFO, UEC and Bellator veteran.

"Being one of the first women to represent MMA in a video game is a dream come true for me," she said. "This is our chance to finally show gamers that female fighters can hold their own."

Being the Wand Fight Team's sole female fighter, Gutierrez said she is excited to bring her likeness and skill set to the world of video games.

"Joining the roster of fighters for Supremacy MMA is definitely awesome," Gutierrez said. "The game takes a totally different approach to MMA, so I think it's perfect that this is the game that features women for the first time."

No word yet on whether these women will be featured in a special exhibition fight or be able to take on their male counterparts in the game. Either way, this is certainly a cool way to promote women's MMA and introduce fans of the sport to some top-notch competitors they may have overlooked until now.
