...Still alive.
For those of you still clinging to hope that the Dreamcast may someday make a triumphant comeback, your day has finally come...Sort of.

Germany-based developers Redspot Games recently announced their new Dreamcast game, the side-scrolling bullet hell title Sturmwind, will be available for purchase mid-2011 on their website at redspotgames.com. Check out the German-tastic video after the jump.

German broadcasters 3Sat recently interviewed Redspot's Max Scharl who, I can only assume, discussed what players can expect from their latest title. I can only assume this, as I speak absolutely zero German. For those in similar shoes, you can go ahead and skip to about the halfway point in the video, as that's when footage from the game will randomly be playing in the background.

This revelation of a new Dreamcast game has us asking several questions, mainly "why not develop your game for the downloadable scene on the Wii, 360, PS3 and/or PC?" It only makes sense that a developer would want their game to actually get played, so making something for a decade-dead console seems, shall we say, not so smart. I'm sure Scharl discusses exactly that in his recent interview but, yeah, that whole German thing is something of a barrier to getting those answers.

If any of you readers can help us out with some additional details, we'd love to hear about it in the comments. Otherwise, it's at least known that Strumwind will feature 16 levels, 20 bosses, hundreds of enemy types and it's all region free. If you still have a Dreamcast sitting around, this new offering will set you back about $50. But we're sure that price is nothing compared to the anticipation of actually getting a new title for your beloved Caster of Dreams.
