Get ready for some Modern Warf-I mean Combat
Don't you just love when games come out of nowhere? Modern Combat: Domination is a downloadable first person shooter developed by Gameloft and, somehow managing to sneak under the radar until now, is actually slated to release in January.

While the name is a bit generic and an FPS featuring a modern conflict isn't exactly a fresh take on the genre, Gameloft have a few unique variables (like a low price point and PlayStation Move support) that could make it a big hit for those looking for a little old and a little new in their shooter diet.

A Gameloft producer Q&A recently went up on the PlayStation blog to discuss the development and impending release of the PSN exclusive title. Gameloft Social Media Editor Jen Kye talked with Producer Arnaud Bonnard about Modern Combat, saying the game will be "one of the most complete FPS multiplayer games on the PSN.

The game is set to pit teams against one another in Midle Eastern and Western metropolitan areas and feature all the usual trimmings, as well as PS Move support.

"We worked on the different game modes, the level design of tactical maps, the core weapons to offer both variety and good balance, and the unlocks/ranks for an addictive progression," Arnaud said. "Regarding the gameplay itself, we wanted something more realistic; while still accessible to the newcomer, hardcore gamers would welcome the chance to hone their skills."

Arnaud goes on to say that next-gen graphics and online stability have been a big focus for the development team in a game that will offer a cover-based alternative to the standard run-and-gun gameplay more commonly seen in the genre.

Will this be the quality Move FPS fans have been waiting for?
"Rushing into objectives will only lead to mission failure, so its' key for the team to anticipate and progress with care," Arnaud added. "It is the perfect challenge for people who are seeking a very engaging FPS experience; gamers will have to master maps, skill sets and abilities, and of course function as a team."

While Modern Combat: Domination certainly looks familiar, the team is eager to highlight Move support (though you can use a normal controller) and the fact that it will be an affordable, downloadable alternative to those other FPS' on the market.

Kye stated in the post's comments that a demo is in the works and a special promotion should see the price slated at less than $10. We're guessing $9.99 because it's still technically less than ten bucks but, hey, if it's a solid shooter, it could be worth checking out at that price.
