VUDU. Who do? PS3 do.
Is it possible to have too much of a good thing? Can there really be too many options? Sony doesn't seem to think so, at least so long as you're talking about ways to watch movies on your PlayStation 3.

With the PlayStation Network already offering a video store and Netflix streaming finally added as an application about a month ago, not to mention the recent addition of Hulu Plus, gamers are being given yet another way to watch thanks to next week's inclusion of VUDU.

Susan Panico, Senior Director of the PlayStation Network, yesterday announced that VUDU would be arriving in just a few days.

"I'm happy to report that beginning next week, VUDU, the HD movie streaming service, will be available to all PS3 users in the United States that are registered to PSN, making it the only gaming console to offer VUDU."

Even better is the face VUDU is a subscription-free, pay as you go service. Simply download the application and, if at any time you notice a movie you would like to watch, you pay for it on the spot and begin streaming, with no buffering or download required. Movies will be beamed to your peepers in 1080p and blasted to your earholes in 5.1 surround sound.

While the service already has something like 4,000 HD movies available, Panico said many more films will be available for rental or purchase right when they release on DVD and Blu-ray, "giving you the most instant access when you want it."

The application will also allow users to recommend movies to their friends through its own social network integrations and offers frequent specials, like "$2 for 2 nights" on select titles.

Still not convinced? Did we mention VUDU is offering anyone who registers for the service on their PS3 will be credited six bucks, giving them a free HD rental right off the bat? Well, they are.

To take VUDU for a test drive, visit the PlayStation Store next Tuesday, Nov. 23 for your free download.
