| Can Max Payne also be Nathan Drake? |
Wahlberg states that writer/director David O. Russell is currently working on the film, which could begin shooting as early as next year.
Other names dropped during the interview were Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci. Wahlberg confirms that both have been contacted regarding the film, with the role of Drake's father being written for De Niro and his uncle being written for Pesci. Since neither of those characters have appeared in the Uncharted universe so far, it looks like Drake will either be revisiting some family ties in the series' unannounced but almost certainly in development third chapter, or perhaps Russell is heading in his own direction with the film's story.
Wahlberg, who just finished working with Russell for his role in the upcoming film The Fighter, said the ball is definitely rolling on the project which, according to him, isn't necessarily going for the super-kid-friendly market.
"David is writing now...and the idea he has is just insane. Hopefully we'll be making that movie this summer," Wahlberg said during the interview. "It's not going to be the watered down version, that's for sure."
