Beatdowns coming from THQ/UFC for another eight years
It's no secret that THQ's latest UFC: Undisputed title was not as warmly received as the 2009 offering. Perhaps fighting fans are waiting to see what EA Sports MMA has to offer. Or, it could be that, unlike just about every other sports game, fans just don't have any interest in a yearly iteration.

Despite all that, THQ and Zuffa have decided the series has enough legs to run head-long into the future, announcing an extended partnership to continue creating the games and other software through 2018.

According to Core Games Executive Vice President Danny Bilson, this deal could mean more for the franchise than just shelling out a game with minor tweaks and a new roster every 12 months.

"We're very excited to extend our relationship with Zuffa and the Ultimate Fighting Championship," Bilson siad. "Working closely together with Dana White and the incredible team at UFC, we plan to continue to deliver outstanding interactive UFC experiences to gamers around the world in all new ways, including social, mobile and brand extensions."

UFC President Dana White, too, said he is excited to see the brand expand through social and mobile apps.

"We are impressed by the passion that THQ brings to making great games and we look forward to working together to create even greater gaming experiences for our fans in the future," White said.

Under the new agreement, THQ has acquired the rights to create UFC licensed games and applications, not only for home and handheld consoles current and upcoming, but also for iPhone and iPad. It looks like in the future, no matter where you go, UFC will follow.
