Free Mew for every one!
Good news for all you folks who have just gotta catch em all. Celebrating the ten year anniversary of Pokemon Gold and Silver, trainers the world over can get their mitts on the rare psychic-type Pokemon, Mew, for the more recent HeartGold and SoulSilver versions of the game.

In commemoration of the first time players were allowed to visit the Johto region of the game's world a full decade ago, a Nintendo Wi-Fi distribution event is set to take place between Oct. 15-30 for those gaming on the DS.

Though the catalog has expanded quite a bit over the years, fans of the series will remember a time when there were just 150 Pokemans for you to get your hands on. However, as many lucky gamers on the original Red and Blue versions of the game can attest, the lovable Mew turned out to be mysterious Pokemon number 151, the series' first official hidden character.

All these years later and the little buggar is still a difficult get. However, for those with an internet connection and a gaping hole in their Pokedex, the sneaky Mew is being given away for all who wish to download him onto their HeartGold and SoulSilver versions of the game.

Your very own Mew will be set at level five and come with the Pound attack, giving trainers the opportunity to raise the lil' fella' however they see fit.

So, here's all the nerdy mumbo-jumbo for those of you who actually want to take part in the special event. To claim your Mew, you will need to use the Mystery Gift option via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service to acquire the Pokedex in the game. Players must also have fewer than three Wonder Cards in their current game. Other than that, he's all yours.
