| You play, you get rewards. Badda-bing, badda-boom. |
According to a post from Susan Panico on the PlayStation blog, the program is touted as rewarding players "for simply doing what they love- playing games and interacting with the entertainment content that PlayStation has to offer." Also, it'll be 100 percent free to join.
Today marks the initial launch of the program, which will be conducted as an invitation-only beta to all PlayStation Plus and Gamer Advisory Panel members in order to gather feedback and make the best of the program before opening it to the general public. While the beta will only focus on the PS3, the goal is to eventually include diehard PSP players in the mix.The program apparently reward members for playing games, buying content from the Store, renting movies and TV shows, tooling around in PlayStation Home or taking surveys by giving them access to special status, recognition and rewards. The more you participate, the more credit you'll earn through three tiers of of rewards including "Select," "Pro" and Legendary." The higher up you go, the better rewards you'll receive. Simple, right?
For the beta, rewards will include PSN avatars that display a member's status in the program, exclusive themes and PS Home content, as well as opportunities to take part in members-only sweepstakes and giveaways throughout the year. The first giveaway, by the way, is an all expenses paid trip to the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show.
Beta invites go out today and it is expected the program will open to the masses sometime early next year.
