My Mad Millions pays you to play...Sort of.
Getting payed to play a game is an act typically only enjoyed by testers and the occasional video game journalist.

With casual titles like Farmville and Mafia Wars raking in the players, though, upstart developer Apps Genius is trying out a new gaming model in hopes of earning big bucks in the process while passing along some of those earnings to players, as well.

The game is called My Mad Millions (or MMM for all you cool kids out there) and in it, the player has recently inherited a cool $300 million. So what are you supposed to do with all those greenbacks? Why, spend them, of course.

Like most Facebook titles, the primary focus of the game is to manage a few variables while taking part in simple, yet addictive activities designed to blow your money as quickly as possible.

Carrying out actions cost you energy while said actions (like buying a house, throwing a party, gambling on sporting events and hitting the poker tables) will eventually lead to empty pockets.

But here's the catch: The top players each day will receive real-world rewards. According to Apps Genius, the top 20 percent of their daily players will split 50 percent of the game's revenue for that day.

So where does all of that revenue come from? The players, of course.

Once your in-game character gets tired, you have to wait on their energy to recharge. This, of course, wastes valuable time when you're trying to drain your bank account faster than anyone else. If you want to bypass the recharge process, however, it will cost you a small nominal fee.

Since it's likely those who spend the most will end up being in that magical top 20 percent each day, it's unlikely winners will do much more than break even while playing the game. It's this nature of risk versus reward, though, Apps Genius is banking on to keep bringing players back for more.

To check out My Mad Millions, simply look up the title on Facebook.com. If you somehow manage to hit the big bucks by playing, just remember who told you about it in the first place.
