CaptainAMERICA! F%&$ YEAH!
With every new comic book movie must also come a video game. It's a tradition, and America's super-soldier would be the last person to spit in the face of tradition.

That being the case, Sega yesterday announced that Captain America: Super Soldier will be heading to gaming consoles just in time to coincide with the movie's Summer 2011 theatrical release.

Super Soldier will tell an original story for the shield-wielding hero, set during Dubya Dubya II and penned by Marvel veteran Christos Gage.

"Video game players the world over can now become Marvel's iconic super hero, Captain America," said Gary Knight, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Sega Europe and Sega America. "Captain America: Super Soldier puts players in the boots of the ultimate super soldier, wielding Captain America's legendary shield."

Knight went on to say working closely with Marvel will help ensure the company delivers the caliber of product gamers and comic book fans deserve. We'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now, but if successful, it would mean one of the first times in gaming history said movie tie-in actually lived up to such lofty expectations.

Super Soldier will be a third-person action affair featuring acrobatic platforming and fast melee combat in order to best villains like Iron Cross, the Hydra Army and Cap's arch nemesis, Red Skull. While the story will fall in line with the movie, Gage has stated his writing for the game will allow for unique twists and turns, offering a different experience than its cinematic counterpart.

Captain America: Super Soldier, is set to release for the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and Nintendo DS next summer.
