As a video game enthusiast (by hobby and by trade), I've long been insanely jealous of film's Criterion collection. Not only do these DVD re-releases of classic, essential films come with load of great extras, but they also come packaged inside some great, artistic DVD cases that really accentuate the artistry of the film inside in unique ways.

The closest we can get to those artistic cases in the gaming realm might be this collection of fan-made jewel cases currently being thrown around in this NeoGAF thread. Sure, these cases are technically based around music album covers, and games haven't come in CD-sized jewel cases for a while now, but some of these creations make us want to burn an emulated version onto a CD-R just so we can have an excuse to hold them in these cases.

Check out some of our favorite examples after the break.
