| It's like chess, but violent-er! |
By Ryan Winslett
Ryan Winslett here, reporting from the future. I was watching some of you with my Time-TV and couldn't help but laugh at how you were playing the game of chess.
Here in late September of 2010, around Sept. 28 to be exact, we've taken your "game of kings" up a notch or two thanks to the newly released Battle vs. Chess, developed by TopWare Interactive and Gaijin Entertainment. Want the details? Read on!
No more sliding silly, static shapes around a tiled board. Instead, we simply turn on our gaming systems and fire up Battle vs. Chess to watch our game pieces come to life and wage war in 3D with new game modes, puzzles and a story-driven campaign revolving around the seldom-used battle between darkness and light.
"How much different can this version of chess be?" you may ask. What if your pieces were randomly placed on the board? Think that might shake things up a bit?
Or, how about we let you place your pieces wherever you want so you can wage war with an opponent who has come up with their own tactical formations?
Throw in an additional 50 puzzles and challenges for the story mode and you'll see why your version of the game is just so last month.
SouthPeak Interactive is publishing the game under the suggested retail price of $39.99 for consoles and $19.99 for Windows PC.
Why the difference in price? Because Prince was right. The internet has become obsolete and, without porn and snarky bloggers, nobody could come up with another use for the things.
