Two Worlds franchise redeems itself (slightly) with funny web videos

If you had tried to get me interested in Southpeak Interactive's Two Worlds II as recently as last week, I would have told you not to waste your time. After all, simply spending an hour with the first Two Worlds was enough to get me to summarily call it "one of the worst games I have ever played." I usually don't play sequels to the worst games I have ever played, on general principle.

But that was before I saw the first two episodes of "Sordahon's Journey," a series of web videos Southpeak made to promote the game. The first episode drew me in by openly mocking some of the worst aspects of the first Two Worlds (long loading times, bad "Olde English" dialogue, sound effect miscues... the list goes on). But the second episode really sold the whole concept with a brilliant five-second sequence showing evil henchman Sordahon getting beaten mercilessly by three-year-olds (pictured). Seriously, I could watch that five-second clip on loop all day.

Sure, the acting and writing and production values in these videos are kind of cheesy, and I have absolutely no confidence that Two Worlds II will actually be any better than the horrible original. Still, if the existence of the Two Worlds franchise has led to the existence of these videos, well, I guess it can't be all bad.

Check out the videos after the break.
