A Rock Band fan or a Guitar Hero fan?
I like to admit my biases. I'm a Rock Band fan. The development team at Harmonix clearly likes to make their game all about the music - the big innovation of Rock Band 3 is that you can actually teach yourself to play for real with the game.
Then there's Guitar Hero, which is definitely focused more on the "game" than the "music" in the music game genre.
The new trailer below lays out the details of Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock's Quest mode, which focuses on story, mutant creatures and special powers. In other words, everything other than music.
Check out the trailer below and see what I mean. Music is barely even mentioned.
And hiring Gene Simmons as the embodiment of rock? C'mon. The guy has literally invented new ways to sell out. Exhibit A:
