| Fight Night Champion steps into the ring next year |
The Fight Night series is inarguably the best boxing series of all time, although I'd argue that the last game in the series, Fight Night Round 4, was a bit of a misstep. While the first three games focused on easily understandable analog controls, the fourth game was a little too realistic and complex for more casual gamers.
That's why I'm so excited for Fight Night Champion. The next game will reportedly return the series to its more accessible roots.
Revealed today on IGN, Fight Night Champion is a full-fledged sequel scheduled for next year. According to the article, the game will feature a groundbreaking new single-player mode that's not something gamers expect from EA Sports games, but no further details were offered. |
Fight Night Champion will feature 60-65 fighters (including Manny Pacquiao, judging by the screens) and a revamped version of the controls that will allow players to move and throw punches at the same time more easily. Again, no further details were offered, but it stands to reason that there will be some significant changes to the analog punching mechanic to allow this change.
We'll definitely be bringing you more details on Fight Night Champion as they emerge. Look for the game on 360 and PS3 sometime next year.
