Netflix has begun shipping out the free Blu-Ray disc needed for streaming to the PS3. The solution that will make these discs obsolete will be made available sometime late next year. And I can assure all you PS3 users out there, by the time that happens, most of you will have forgotten that your system can even access Netflix.

For those of you who have Netflix, but haven't requested a streaming disc yet, go to Netflix.com/ps3 to do so.

This is a fitting time to post a rant that was supposed to be apart apart of a larger editorial (after the jump):

The Sony mafia has been out in full force preemptively calling the console war over at the news of Netflix coming to the PS3. I won't even dignify these articles with a link because they are just despicable.

I just don't understand how you can make something such a big deal about this. Even Microsoft could care less because they realize that their own hardcore fan-base wasn't excited for Netflix.

When the NXE went live, I can't think of one who was SUPER EXCITED about the feature. It's nice to know it's there, but no one really thought it was going to change the way we use our consoles.

The addition of Netflix to consoles in general is simply a way to sell them more as entertainment platforms than gaming systems.
