Nintendo Being Hailed As 2009's Best Company In The World

Sounding like a news story from 1987, Nintendo has overtaken Apple as the best company in the world. BusinessWeek barely talks about the best company in the world, so I'll sum it up. "A commitment to innovation, diversified portfolios, aggressive expansion," have led Nintendo to it being named "Best" (with a captial b).

Nintendo seems to have the edge on Apple because of its "aggressive expansion" in Japan, Euope and America, Apple not so much in the Land of the Rising Sun. I wonder if the huge amount of money employees at Nintendo generate and make has anything to do with their newborn status.

It does seem interesting that Nintendo and Apple are the top two, according to BusinessWeek, as they have had a similar path since the 80's. Both were the biggest names in their fields, inspired innovation with an amazing fanbase, did pretty well in the early 90's, started to lose real market-share by the mid 90's despite major innovation (N64, Mario64, Zelda: Ocarina, and iMac and Newton), and when their biggest innovation was made they became larger than ever (iPod and Wii).

The two companies kind of grew up together, not really bothering each other. That is until Steve Jobs declared Apple would take them out. But kudos to Nintendo, they have been through something akin to the 12 Labors of Hercules to get here.

Nintendo and Apple are the top two? Did we see the same list? Because the one I saw, the one you linked to, clearly says that Google was the number two company and Apple was third. Next time you may want to actually read the article you are reporting on before you do a write up. Can't imagine why no one respects game "journalists" these days.

to the poster that she-dogged about the list:

You do realize that at the time of this article it could of been number to so keep your, or did you not factor that in due to your massive self ego before you decided to attack the writer of the article? Just be cause your bitter and have a chip on your shoulder and already have your own predetermined thoughts to the quality of game journalist maybe you should reflect upon yourself and the fact you are trolling and making an ass out of yourself over some so simple as a list that can change

This article states that the businessweek article is their source for the business rankings. That article clearly lists nintendo at 1 and google at 2.

If the author's aim was to compare nintendo and apple then they should have referenced their source(s) for their rankings.

Steve Jobs is really going to be upset when he reads this article, thinks he's second in the world, and then clicks on the link and finds out he's third.

He probably has a box of iPods next to his desk to smash for just such an occasion.
