I think that there's very little question that Sony's PS3 has picked up some serious momentum recently. As I discussed in the post below, there has been a string of good moves by Sony lately, which resulted in the PS3 hitting the top-selling console spot for the first time ever in September. Now there's more good news for PS3 customers: Netflix is coming to PS3 next month.

Any Netflix subscriber who has a streaming plan (which is any plan above the $8.99 per month mark) will have access to Netflix streaming on the console for no additional charge. You will however need to insert a Netflix streaming disc to run the service. That's unfortunate, but far from a dealbreaker, ladies.

I was talking to some friends this weekend who were considering picking up a PS3 or a 360. They were leaning towards the PS3 for the Blu-ray player, and I told them I'd prefer to have the 360's Netflix streaming feature. That argument is obviously now moot. Microsoft's upcoming addition of Facebook, Twitter and Last.fm is still a check in their column, but the company is going to need to do something to counter the upcoming PS3/Netflix partnership. Making the service available to Xbox Live Silver Accounts would be a good start.
