Savage's Must-Play Game Of November: Modern Warfare 2 Dragon Age: Origins

November might be about Modern Warfare 2 for some of you, but I'm more excited for BioWare's newest RPG, Dragon Age: Origins. I've come to this conclusion because I've played Call of Duty 4 to death (yeah, level 55 - 10th prestige)  and while Modern Warfare 2 is more polished and adds a lot more to the game, I'm going to play it eventually no matter what. This pretty much kills any real anticipation I could have.

However, a game like Dragon Age is one that can be overlooked by the majority of gamers (including myself), so I've decided to make it my goal to see this one through because it looks amazing!

Now, I don't have to descriptively detail why BioWare is one of the greatest RPG developers, they've proven that through epics like Knights of the Old Republic, Jade Empire, and Mass Effect. What I do have to explain is the availability of games like this on consoles. Take Jade Empire for example. It was the best RPG on the original xbox (don't argue with me KOTOR fans) and despite getting incredible reviews, didn't even sell 500,000 units in North America.

Because of that, fans like myself were left in the dark as to whether or not the game would be receiving a sequel. We still don't have an official word on the sequel, so it may never see the light of day if a publisher doesn't want to take a risk on a game with nothing more than an aggressive cult following. The point of my pro-Jade Empire rant is: the more we help promote different genres of games on consoles, the more variety we'll see released. This will also let publishers see us as more than just multiplayer-addicted teens, but as lovers of unique, story-driven titles.

So if you own a 360 or a PlayStation 3, give Dragon Age: Origins a chance. Not just for me, but for the sake of all console RPGs (and for BioWare). And if you don't own either of those consoles, pick it up for PC because every RPG is better on a PC anyways. Plus, I hear they have some incredible development tools being released for it, so the mod community will have fun with it for sure.
