I've said it many times before, but rumors about Microsoft are almost always true. The latest word floating around is that the current "base" model Xbox 360, the Pro, is about to be phased out, leaving only the top-of-the-line Elite and the hard driver-free arcade as the two available models. Fortunately, it looks like the Elite will be getting a $100 price drop, bringing it down to the Pro's old price point. The new packages below only show a comparison between two models, further solidifying this rumor. Personally, I think this is win-win. New customers will get more for their money with the Elite, or can still opt for the cheap Arcade model. And the long-rumored Sony price cut will be even more necessary when this change goes into effect. First spotted on
Kotaku.

I hope they're true cos I'm looking into buying my first ever Xbox and I wanted an elite.

It will also be a tough choice for gamers like me who wants to have the best of both worlds. I need to decide whether I should buy Xbox or Ps3 before Aion Online is launched.
