Nothing's going on here. Just a cool marketing campaign from Valve and Depeche Mode.
When Valve goes searching for a band to partner with on their zombie-slaughtering sequel to Left 4 Dead, I never would have thought to see Depeche Mode as their final pick. I guess when your first choice, Rob Zombie and your second choice, Green Day all turn you down you get desperate.
Speaking to Chet Faliszek, a co-lead and writer on Left 4 Dead 2 at Comic-Con, Kotaku did confirm that the partnership is official and the band even gave Valve permission to use any songs or likeness of theirs in the game. However, as of right now that partnership only includes the use of a tshirt worn by the female character, Rochelle.
I'm hoping to hear "Shake the Disease" play in the background whenever a Boomer explodes onto someone:
This is a lucky day for me because I love Depeche Mode (their old stuff at least) and Left 4 Dead! But will the average L4D2 player know them or care to know them?
