As if playing massive open-world games wasn't time-consuming enough. So last night I was minding my own business, playing Red Faction so I can bring you good people a review in the most timely fashion possible. I'm not exactly a super-speedy reviewer, and I'm hip-deep in my most ambitious review program ever. So naturally, this is the perfect time for my Xbox to red ring. Again. Time for XBox number five. Sigh.

Well folks, look for Infamous to be the first OWSS09 contender to get a full review. Prototype and Red Faction reviews will follow just as soon as I have a working console. Oh Microsoft, gotta love your hardware.

You too huh?

It's killing me that Ghostbusters came out yesterday, and I can't play it.

Yeah, no kidding. I've that on deck too. I'm on hold with MS customer service as we speak to see if my box is still under warranty, even though I'm pretty sure it's not. May finally be time to get an Elite.

I'm actually picking up an Arcade unit and just transferring over my HD.

Elite's are nice, I seem to remember reading somewhere that the wiring is more robust or some such. All I know is that it's quieter than the last xbox I had and SEEMS to keep cooler on it's own.

If you look around the 'Net a bit you can find which versions of the 360 are more or less reliable... I haven't replaced my 360 in a while, so I'm rusty on it, but ultimately you can spot good and less-good consoles by the power (volt) info on the package... I ditched my launch 360 for an Elite (picked using 'Net info) a couple years ago or so and so far, so good.
